Tom Matthews - Partner

Tom is a partner at Magenta Partners. Previously, Tom has worked at Deutsche Bank’s strategic private equity arm, Bridges Ventures and MidOcean Partners, and has over 8 years of investment experience spanning development capital through to mid market buy-outs, primarily in the UK. Tom has expertise in a number of industries including leisure, media, consumer and business services.

Tom has an MA in Philosophy Politics and Economics from Oxford University and an MBA from INSEAD where he was a Louis Franck scholar.

Chase Emson - Partner

Chase is a partner of Magenta Partners. Previously, Chase has worked at the pan-European mid-market private equity firm, MidOcean Partners, where he was a Director, and at Deutsche Bank, in both corporate finance advisory and the venture capital arm of the DB Capital platform. Chase has worked on investments ranging from pure equity venture capital through to mid-market (£150m EV) buyouts and large cap (£2bn) advisory mandates, with a focus on Western Europe.

Chase has an MA in Spanish and Business Studies from the University of Edinburgh and an MBA from INSEAD where he was an IFS Henry Grunfeld scholar.

Richard Moore - Investment Executive

Richard is an Investment Executive at Magenta Partners. Previously, Richard has worked at Ernst & Young LLP where he completed the analyst rotation programme, spending time within the private equity due diligence team, the business modelling team, the mergers & acquisitions advisory team, and the corporate restructuring team. Throughout this time Richard focussed on advising private equity clients across a broad range of sectors.

Richard has a BSc in Economics from the University of Nottingham. He is also a Chartered Accountant.

Graham Thomas

Graham is Global Head of Standard Bank's Principal Investment Management Division, which includes private equity, distressed debt and real estate. Previously, Graham was a Partner of MidOcean Partners and Co-Head of Goldman Sach’s Alternative Telecom Group.

Philip Newborough

Philip is Chief Executive of the UK investor Bridges Ventures and has previously managed two venture capital-backed businesses and a substantial pan-European business. He previously worked at Aiwa as Director and General Manager and was then appointed Managing Director of MWB Business Exchange Ltd, a serviced office provider. Philip is a chartered accountant and started his private equity career at Apax Partners.

Nick Champ

Nick is a Director of investment advisor Rianta Capital. In this and previous roles, Nick has over 15 years of investment experience with notable deals including New Look, Southern Cross, Carluccios, Soho House and Global Data Centre Management. Nick qualified as a chartered accountant with Spicer and Peglar (now a part of Deloitte and Touche).

Founding Investor

Our principal founder and investor are the Tom Singh Family Trusts.  Tom Singh is one of the UK’s leading retail entrepreneurs. Having founded the New Look chain of women’s fashion stores in 1969 with a single store, the chain now operates more than 750 total stores in the UK and Europe.  Tom served as an active executive board member until March 2006 and continues to serve as a non-executive member of the board. Tom is the Chairman of TIE in the UK, a founder member of the Social Investment Task Force and an active philanthropist.
